[AUDIO] Phoenix: Ammonia Leakage Creates Panic At Food and Allied Industries Ltd

Panic in the premises of Food and Allied Industries Ltd (FAIL) in Phoenix on Monday morning, June 27. Thirty employees were urgently taken to the hospital after an ammonia leak.

The incident occurred while the employees of the maintenance department were on the roof of the factory where there are devices containing ammonia.

“Ils faisaient une vidange. La vanne était un peu serrée. Ils ont forcé pour l’ouvrir. Malheureusement ils ont perdu un peu le contrôle. Il y a eu une fuite de gaz, qui s’est répandu dans l’usine,” says Thierry Spéville, General Manager of Avipro subsidiary of the FAIL group.

” Une quinzaine d’employés sont déjà retournés après avoir reçu les premiers soins à l’hôpital alors que les autres sont toujours sous observation,” says Thierry Spéville.

The General Manager of Avipro says that the situation was under control at 10 AM and that the plant operations would resume in an hour.

Employees of the plant have been evacuated. Firefighters were summoned there.
