Sad end for three people this afternoon. There were 15 persons in total on board returning from Ile-aux-Cerfs when the boat capsized around 5:30PM. Four people were reported missing immediately and the National Coast Guard quickly intervened.

Three of the four missing were found and they were transported to the Flacq Hospital. On site, their death was unfortunately noted. An adult and two children, aged three years and eight months were among the dead. The adult in question was a man who drowned by diving into the water to try to save her baby. He could not be recovered subsequently.
Research is still ongoing to find the fourth missing person.
