Fatal Fall In Saint-Pierre – The Neighbor: “IL EST PASSÉ PAR LA FENÊTRE”

Denis Marie Robertson experienced a gruesome end. This inhabitant of Cité Myosotis, Saint-Pierre, was at his neighbor’s place when he fell from a two-storey house on Wednesday night. He died instantly. The CID of St. Pierre questioned the neighbor and two other family members present at the drama.

The neighbor, close relative to the victim, aged 60, is traumatized. In his account to detectives of the Criminal Police of Moka, he recounts that “qu’il connaissait bien la victime qui venait souvent chez lui.” The evening of the tragedy, Denis Marie Robertson went to his neighbor’s place. The neighbor told the police that he met him that day but the latter went back home after a few minutes. “Il est passé par la fenêtre,” he explained to detectives.

The neighbor’s daughter, aged 25, also explained to the men of the inspector Cowlessur. “J’avais constaté que mon père s’était absenté plusieurs minutes durant, je voulais savoir où il était. Je me suis dirigée vers la chambre de mes parents. J’ai aperçu la silhouette d’un homme qui sortait du premier étage pour aller au second. J’ai croisé mon père, puis nous avons entendu un grand bruit,” she said in her story. Wasting no time, they all rushed upstairs. Too late. They found a body at the bottom. For his part, the husband of the young woman said he ignored what happened. “I was busy with my baby,” he told the detectives.

Accidental death
The family immediately informed the Police of St. Pierre. Samu was mended on site; they could only note the death of Robertson. The body of the victim was taken to the morgue in Candos. An autopsy by the forensic department was performed and Dr Sudesh Kumar Gungadin attributed the death of Denis Marie Robertson with a broken neck. All indications are that his death was accidental. “C’est arrivé vers 23 heures. Nous sommes encore sous le choc,” recalls the young woman at the CID offices in Moka.

Liseby, the mother of the victim, is inconsolable. It was 7:30 PM when she saw Denis. She never imagined that it was the last time she saw him alive. “Mon fils travaille sur un camion de livraison. Mercredi, il est rentré après le boulot. Il a pris son bain et il est sorti. Il devait être 19 h 30,” said the mother to the police.

“Vers 2 heures du matin, on a frappé à la porte. Je n’ai rien entendu. J’ai entendu des sirènes, je n’y ai pas prêté attention, croyant qu’il s’agissait d’une patrouille policière. Puis, j’ai reçu l’appel d’un policier qui m’a demandé de venir au poste avec la carte d’identité de Denis et ses documents. J’ai compris que quelque chose de grave s’est produit,” she said in tears. Denis Marie Robertson’s funeral was held on Thursday afternoon.
