After crossing the 100,000 visitor mark in 2015, South Africa has now become one of Mauritius’ primary source markets for tourists. This trend is continuing in 2016 despite the weakness of the South African rand. South Africa is among the top three producers of tourists for Mauritius, making it a highly vital market for hotels, resorts, and of course the now revived Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority.
As a result, South African Airways has acted on the rising demand by including another frequency from Johannesburg to Port Louis, raising flights from 10 to 11 per week.
With convenient connections for both incoming and outgoing flights, the added service is also of interest for non-South African visitors looking for reasonable fares from their home country to Mauritius.
